FWIW, new Zealand was using red stars on its flag long before any
comminust groups did - red is a sacred colour to the Maori and was
used for the stars on NZ flags from a very early stage.
The similarity to some communist-related flags is clear, though - I'm
sure Željko in particular can think of one former communist national
flag that bears similarities to the NZ flag.
It's also been noted before here in NZ - there was a TVNZ television
series a few years back, a documentary on the major economic
upheavals the country went through in the early 1980s called
"Revolution". ISTR I sent information to the list over a decade ago
about the graphic used in the opening credits of the programme, which
cleverly morphed from the current NZ flag into something with more
obvious communist overtones.
